Common questions
Will a new battery fix my car?
Only if the battery is the problem. If the alternator is not charging or something is draining the battery, a new battery will go flat too. Testing first avoids paying for parts you don’t need.
The battery light came on while I was driving. Can I keep going?
The car is probably running on battery power alone. Switch off non-essential electrics and get to a safe place. Watch the temperature gauge, because a broken drive belt can also affect engine cooling on many vehicles.
What should I tell you when I call?
Whether the engine cranks, clicks or stays silent, whether the dashboard lights come on, and whether the car has been jump-started recently. A short video of the sound helps.
